Edgy, energetic, and modern; this car has Soul. Kia’s newest subcompact adds some flavor to the rest of the Kia lineup. Che Myungsic, Kia’s 30-year-old marketing manager for the Soul, describes the car as a pair of flashy, colorful sneakers in a lineup filled with sensible shoes. Makes sense, right? The 2010 Kia Soul gives the brand their very own young, hip, and fun car.
The vehicle comes with four different trims. They are the Soul, the Soul+, the Soul! (notice the exclamation point; you have to raise your voice when you talk about this model), and lastly the Soul Sport.
All Soul trims are powered by a 2.0-liter inline four engine that pumps out 142 horsepower and will get you 24 mpg city/30 mpg highway. With fuel economy like this, expect to cut out a few trips to the gas station; as the Soul will take you nearly 400 miles on a tank of gas, which is something we all wouldn’t mind.
More specifically, the Soul Sport comes with keyless remote entry, 18” alloy wheels, and a sport tuned suspension. As far as accessories go, how about interior floor lighting, remote start, and an iPod accessory cable for starters? In fact, every Kia Soul includes a standard auxiliary audio jack and USB port for flash drives and iPods.
The interior has been revamped as well. Choose from a black-and-red two-tone interior or a black-and-tan two-tone interior with hounds-tooth cloth upholstery as an option. Are you looking for fun? Because it looks like you just found it.
With high safety ratings, an excellent warranty, and starting at around $13,5000, the Kia Soul has become a very desirable and affordable car at Kia Charlotte.
