Although we’re still a few months away from the LA Auto Show, there are quite a few exciting debuts confirmed for the show. According to Kia Charlotte, among them will be the all-new Kia Optima Hybrid, the brand’s first foray into the hybrid market.

CT Executive Kia says that Kia has yet to divulge many details on this new model, but it’s expected to be powered by a similar setup found within the upcoming Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. This includes the 169 horsepower 2.4-liter Theta II engine mated to a 30 kW electric motor. If this is true, expect the Optima Hybrid to deliver 39 miles per gallon around town and 37 mpg on the highway.

Other Optima variants include a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine as well as a turbocharged 2.0-liter unit that produces an impressive 274 horsepower. Expect to see the Optima Hybrid model in showrooms early next year.
