After turning out three very popular special editions of its 2010 Soul, Kia decided to add a little extra spirit to the fourth and final one. The Ghost Soul, haunting local dealerships now, comes after the earlier Ignition Soul, Denim Soul and Shadow Dragon Soul.
The Ghost is chock full of goodies on the inside, featuring a premium sound system—including pulsating speaker lights that beat with the music—black leather-trimmed and heated seats, and chrome and metallic accents throughout its interior. On the outside, the supernatural Soul wears a Ghost-specific light-gray blue paint job set off by subtle gray strip on the side, as well as a full sport body kit. Other exterior highlights include a rear spoiler, front fender vents, moonroof, fog lights and black 18-inch alloy wheels.
Of course, the really amazing thing about the Ghost Soul is that it also boasts all the standard content in Kia’s Soul+ trim. That means not only a full complement of safety technologies, but also some seriously impressive fuel efficiency. Regardless of whether you prefer Kia’s four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission or want to do the Soul shifting yourself with the five-speed manual, you’ll still get an EPA-estimated 24 mpg city/30 mpg highway/26 mpg combined.
It’s a tidy package that’s certainly cleaned up on the awards circuit, too. The Soul was twice recognized as a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, named to the “Best Family Cars 2010″ list put together by Parents magazine and the noted auto experts at Edmunds.com, and—unsurprisingly—got the call for “Grooviest Interior” from Ward’s Autoworld.
And with all this and a starting MSRP of just $19,490, you can be sure the Kia Ghost Soul will be scaring up plenty of excitement everywhere it goes, including Kia Hickory.
